American Museum Of Natural History\nTeaching Assistant (Part-Time)\nThe American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.\nThe part-\n...\ntime Teaching Assistant will work across programs offered by two departments: 1) Youth Initiatives and 2) Children and Family Learning. The Teaching Assistant will support lead educators in the facilitation of camp, workshop and after-school programs throughout the year. This role works with children of all ages and in a variety of content areas.\nThis is a part-time position. During the school year (September - June) many programs operate during after-school hours (2-7pm). Peak programming happens July - August during summer camp. Weekend and holiday work may be required, as necessitated by educational programs or special events.\nJob duties include, but are not limited to:\n• Assist educators with classroom management and instruction techniques during programs.\n• Assist with classroom setup and cleanup before and after programs.\n• Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for a large student body representing the diversity of the city of New York.\n• Organize and prepare materials and maintain supply inventories during programs.\n• Supervise and support students during visits to Museum exhibitions and other activities outside of the classroom.\n• Lead small group activities.\n• Coordinate drop-off and pick-up of students by caregivers, if applicable.\nThe expected salary for the Teaching Assistant is $20/hour. This position is overtime-eligible.\nPay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities.
